Theme – Game Creation

  • Intro to Scratch
    Would you like to share your coding expertise with other members of the club? Think about spending some time helping others learning Scratch basics. There will be a row of computers near the whiteboard just for beginners.
  • Creating your own game using Scratch
    – different ways of moving a sprite
    – adding costumes to a single sprite and switching between them
    – editing a sprite or backdrop
    – creating your own sprite or backdrop
    – recording own sounds using microphones
  • Microbits
    Have a look at the Microbits website for ideas of projects.
    There will be boxes of wires, leds, crocodile clips, buzzers, lights etc….  along with a box of microbits to try out ideas. 

Event has a flexible start and end time as it is on a weekday and parents may need to finish work before bringing their child to the club. The computer suite is booked from 4.30 p.m. for set-up until 7.00 p.m. (room booking ends). Suggested latest pick-up time between 6.30 and 6.40 p.m.

Moray Game Jam 2018

Moray Game Jam is a three day game creation event for 16 years and over, however there are free workshops open all on Saturday. See also the Sunday event.

Please note anyone under the age of 14 attending a workshop must be accompanied by an adult.

Free Sunday event – 12.30 p.m. – 3.00 p.m. – Gaming Playground- your chance to try out the Games
created during the Game Jam and speak to the game designers. 4.00 p.m. Winners announced.

What is a CoderDojo? (also part of Code Club) 

At a regular CoderDojo, young people can learn how to code, develop websites, build apps, games and more. It makes learning to code a fun and sociable experience.

No previous coding experience is necessary.

On the day you can bring along your own laptop. If you do not have your own laptop please still come along as there are computers you can use at the college.

Age group? This is a club for 7 – 17 years. Look for CoderDojo Moray on Eventbrite.
